Kate Watermeyer

Kate is a marine ecologist with experience in ecosystem function and models, conservation policy, and rocky shores ecology. She is currently based in the Marine Knowledge team in the Biodiversity Division of the Victorian government Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

Kate’s research has focused on ecosystem risk assessments and the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, as well as biodiversity indicators and biodiversity monitoring frameworks (Conservation Science research group at Deakin University). Her research has also covered ecosystem modelling to understand change in upwelling systems (Marine Research Institute of the University of Cape Town, South Africa).
