International and Australian Rangers to meet on Phillip Island
Phillip Island is set to welcome Rangers from right across Australia for the 2015 Council of Australian Rangers Association (CARA) Conference, proudly hosted by the Victorian Rangers Association. The meeting, which will include some colleagues communicating via Skype, will be held at Phillip Island Nature Parks’ venues from 29 – 31 July, coinciding with World Ranger Day on 31 July. Field trips will be conducted around the island with local expert rangers, detailing the projects and showcasing the assets within the Parks.
The meeting will also incorporate elements of the Oceania category of the International Rangers Federation (IRF), with a focus on supporting future conservation efforts throughout our region. Enhancing communication and relationships through twinning Associations will be an important outcome.
Some of the workshops and presentations delivered during the three day event will include Visitor Management, Marketing Conservation, Cutting Edge Research Initiatives, Risk Management, Global Leadership and Ecotourism Principles including Tours.
Phillip Island Nature Parks’ ranger, and event organiser, Peter Cleary said “This is a wonderful opportunity for rangers to exchange ideas and share their expertise with colleagues from around the country, as well as from some of our neighbours in the region. Events such as this ensure that we are able to maintain ‘best practice’ in our activities here on Phillip Island.”
This event is generously supported by Phillip Island Nature Parks who have provided the venue for the event as well as their volunteer accommodation.
