Media Releases 2015

The local cricket season is underway, and Phillip Island Nature Parks is proud to throw its support behind the Phillip Island District Cricket Club for another season.

The Nature Parks has sponsored the club for the last six years and will continue to do so for the 2014 - 2015 season.

President of the Cricket Club, Liam Keating said the Nature Parks’ sponsorship over many seasons has helped upgrade the quality of the playing and training equipment, particularly for the junior teams.

“Items such as helmets and good quality bats are costly but essential for safety and to gain maximum enjoyment from the game. Many parents are often unable to meet the costs of supplying these items.”

The junior program at the Cricket Club includes under 16, under 14 and under 12 teams, as well as the Milo ‘In2Cricket’ program for primary school children.

“The partnership with Phillip Island Nature Parks has been vital in helping us build a strong and friendly Club,” Liam added. All juniors and older players or volunteers are welcome at the Club, which trains at the main oval at the Cowes Recreation Reserve.
